The Rachel's Mad Show

MSNBC seems to do such little journalism work that they tend to replay themes, replay Jon Stewart clips, and replay the same videos in “every” show they have at night. On MSNBC tonight the theme seemed to have been dedicated to former Republican presidents and everything bad they could pull from the past. The covered the Richard Nixon Watergate scandal. Really? That’s current news? Let’s analyze Rachel Maddow’s ramble about the Iran-Contra situation during the Reagan administration.

I love the way MSNBC explains a story, leaving out the most important facts and reasons. Maddow tries to quickly explain the situation in Iran at that time over 30 years ago! She explains it as a very bad situation, that's all. She rambled through very quickly, saying our relations with Iran were bad, and complicated. Then lies and explains we were helping Iran for political reasons. Wrong!  Of course incomplete journalism and reporting; this is to be expected from them. Their rating are paying for their lack of journalism integrity. I had to laugh because Fox news announced having reached 3 million in Facebook fans. I decided to look at MSNBC’s Facebook page and they has only 155,000 likes, even with all their brain washing attempts, their obnoxious anchor commercials, they still can’t get audience numbers. The REAL sad part was that their night time show Lock up has 187,000 likes.  They are keeping that station alive with reality show convicts. Why am I not surprised?

Nonetheless, let’s continue with Rachel. First let me explain that in Iran, President Reagan was trying to negotiate the return of 7 American hostages being held in Iran, and the real reason for the exchange, now maybe to Rachel this wasn't important, but for many Americans it was. Yes, war equipment was being sold, and not to Iran, it was done through Israel. Given that in this deal they were able to obtain capital, they felt the money would be “best” used to fight the Contra rebels in Nicaraguan who were committing outrages crimes.

If Ms. Maddow would take to the time to at least “Wiki”, she would find this: “The Contras' form of warfare was "one of consistent and bloody abuse of human rights, of murder, torture, mutilation, rape, arson, destruction and kidnapping". The "Contras systematically engageinviolent abuses...so prevalent that these may be said to be their principal means of
waging war". A Human Right Watch report found that the Contras were guilty of targeting health care clinics and health care workers for assassination; kidnapping civilians; torturing and executing civilians, including children, who were captured in combat; raping women; indiscriminately attacking civilians and civilian homes; seizing civilian property; and burning civilian houses in captured towns”

Not only were the Contras committing these crimes against innocent victims with ongoing casuralties, but this is no different than the vicious crimes being inflicted on civilians today in Syria. Another element in the conflict in Nicaragura was the issue of Communism. The Contras were not only trying to take over the country with violent and horrendous acts, but they also wanted to instill a totalitarian and restrictive Communist regime, having no respect for human rights, and all that “I thought” the liberals held so dear to their heart. The U.S. Congress later resumed aid to the Contras, totaling over $300 million!

But Ms. Maddows can’t seem to tell a complete story, she doesn't seem to be big on the “total” truth.  She can’t even “wiki” like a 3rd grader. Reagan was never indicted or found guilty of any crime. The station loves to make comparisons, like with Clinton, although MSNBC and their very opinionated hosts would like you to believe that he was impeached for having an affair, viewers need to know he was impeached for A FELONY CHARGE OF PERJURY. I advise the MSNBC watcher to take a minute or two of their day to at least Google MSNBC's “half” stories, I mean research – something - anything - please?

Poor Rachel, then her show was followed by an interview with Carol Rosenberg, where she is informed that things have really - really - really gotten worse in Guantanamo Base since Obama had been in office, and even worse in recent weeks. She described how the prisoners are shackled (can you imagine that, being shackled in prison). The ironic part, and most amusing one to anyone with a brain, is the fact that MSNBC shows people in shackles almost every night in their #1 RATED SHOW! – LOCK UP

Rachel tried hard to steer the interview towards the advantage of the Obama Administration, but it wasn't working. She tried to get Rosenber to blame the reasons behind the present Guantanamo base disruptions on the loss of prisoner hope for release.  She made sure these were the final thoughts in the interview regardless of the fact she was trying to spoon fed the response.  I mean are these people for real?  The great part was Rachel’s reaction to this information is that she was calm, too calm. I think maybe in shock. How was she going to defend President Obama with this story? She had just explained in the beginning of her show that our government now under Obama is so different. She just thanked the lady and bowed out. Too Classic!
